UPDATE

Apparently, I hurt my back worse than I originally thought. I tried both Wednesday and Thursday and struggled through the warm up and stretch and decided it was too much. I've been dealing with muscle spasms. I'm not a quitter, but I also know when the risk is not worth the potential benefit. I'm miserable not working out, but I know the best thing for me is to wait for it to heal.

On a side note, I was doing really well continuing the diet until this weekend and I completely fell off the wagon. I may not be able to work out, but I will keep up with the nutrition.

DAY ELEVEN PLYO CARDIO

I'm going to keep this short and sweet...I didn't push myself nearly as hard as I would have liked. The knee is still bothering me and I pulled a muscle yesterday in my side from the Pure Cardio...the point is, I still did the work out, the whole thing!

DAY TEN PURE CARDIO

Well, yesterday came and went without a workout. That was not at all the intention. I decided to not work out in the AM, because I had a long drive ahead of me. As soon as I got home, the dogs decided to dig in to the gift bag and eat chocolate oreos.

No worries. I make up the lost day in the recovery week.

So during the first butt kicks in the warm up, I got a shooting pain my knee..don't know where it came from or why, but I decided to stick with the workout, but I modified the impact as much as possible. No matter, I stuck through it.

DAY NINE CARDIO RECOVERY

This work out is a bit boring...it's a lot of stretching and holding. Nothing complicated, no sweating. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying, I want to move!!!

I have to tell on myself...I'm here in Miami and what good is a trip to Miami without some cuban food? And how do you go to Miami and have cuban food without a mojito? I'm sure it would have been find if I had some portion control, but I love food! (This was on Friday)

I did really well all day with my diet, until the wedding reception. Listen, I was starving and the food was amazing. I did manage to only have one drink.

One more day (Sunday) of not so great eating (listen it's a brunch with the most tasty food you could ever imagine, I refuse to pass up or keep my diet in check here). Good thing it's Pure Cardio day...burn off some of those calories!

DAY EIGHT CARDIO POWER AND RESISTANCE

Yesterday was my off day and if I hadn't been driving to Miami, I probably would have done some kind of workout. I feel lost without it! I cheated on my cheat day...I went to Checkers and had two drinks last night. Don't worry I'm back in the saddle!

I'm not going to bore you with the details of the workout since this is the second time through, but I will say, I have already noticed improvement. I'm still not at the speed of the video, but I do as many moves as I can in the time allowed. I didn't take any additional breaks and I'm increasing in the number of reps I can do.

ALL IN ONE WEEK!

I didn't bring my calorie counter with me, but I'm sure I burned something!

DAY SIX PLYO CARDIO CIRCUIT

It's early...really early...but I needed to get my workout in this morning. No soreness from yesterday. Is this good because my body is getting use to the intensity or bad because I wasn't intense enough? Or maybe, it just hasn't hit me yet!

Today is the same workout as day 2. I feel like I did better, mainly because I know the moves and I know how to get through the circuit...and look forward to those 30 second breaks!

DAY FIVE PURE CARDIO

So my thighs are a little sore from all the squats and lunges yesterday, but I promise you, it goes away as soon as you start stretching....mainly because you forget about it and start trying to figure out how you're going to make it through yet another session of Insanity.

So the warm up is the same...except right before the end the trainer says something like "are you as nervous as I am about what we're getting ready to do?" SCUSE ME? You're kidding right. One of two things is going to happen.
1. You are going to freak out and not be able to focus to get through it.
2. It inspires you. You're going to prove to this guy and yourself that whatever is about to come, you can handle.
I took the latter option.

It isn't all that bad. 15 minutes of 1 minute exercises, no breaks....okay, okay, everyone even the trainer takes breaks. I took 2 15 second breaks.

You finish this workout and as exhausted as you are, you are psyched that you just finished PURE CARDIO!

Calories burned: 648

Side note: I don't know how accurate my heart rate/calorie burner thing is. At one point it said my heart rate was 200 bpm. I know 200 bpm, this wasn't it.

DAY THREE CARDIO POWER & RESISTANCE

Last night about 9:30 it hit me...the shoulders, the arms, the stomach, the calves, gawd, the calves....the pain! I was trying to figure out who I could call to come take my shoes off of me, but I couldn't come up with anyone who would take enough pity on me to drive over here. Everything but the calves had returned to normal by morning. As much as it was pain, I can't tell you how psyched I was to be feeling something! My theory is, if you don't feel sore, you didn't work out hard enough, but that's just me.

This morning was cardio power and resistance. The Insanity workout definitely has a structure; three rounds of warm ups, each one increasing in intensity, a good 5 minutes stretch and then two different routines each with 3 sets.

I am happy to report that I did not take any extra breaks today! I'm not sure my speed was the same as the maniacs in the video, but I definitely pushed myself.

Calories burned: 597

DAY TWO PLYO CARDIO CIRCUIT

I was really concerned going to bed last night that I would not be functioning this morning, but that wasn't at all the case. A little soreness, but it is definitely tolerable.

I decided to work out in the AM, it being Saturday and all. I felt good all the way through. You do three rounds of warm ups; it's repetitive and by the third one you're thinking, how many times are we going to have to do this. The work out wasn't actually that long, 2 different circuits, three times each. I definitely did not keep up with the Insanity pace, but I did set goals and reach them. When I couldn't keep the pace, I jogged in place. My heart rate stayed right around 85%. Calories burned: 637 (not including the warm up).
